Weathering the Storm with Alice Modolo

Alice Modolo diving beneath the waves

Well, another week in the books. This one went by fast. I have been getting things organized for the season and moving new projects forward. It's been busy and there is no sign of letting up. There are just so many things to do; taxes, meeting lawyers, projects, ordering cables, planning, etc. It's amazing that one has time for actually taking pictures!

This week, I had the immense pleasure of being at the screening for Julie Gautier's new short "AMA". It is really an amazing piece, with enoiugh beauty and emotion packed in to ensure more than a few teary viewers. Sincerely, her piece, or her "gift" as she calls it, is so well done, I couldn't help but feel humbled as an artist. At the same time it is discouraging to see such a gap in talent and craft between myself and someone at Julie's level, it is exciting to realize how much room for learning and improvement there is out there. If you haven't seen it, be sure to catch it once it has been released online. It's just too good to miss.

As for underwater adventures, I had the pleasure of doing a shoot in some different conditions. The sea was rather rough last weekend, and we decided to shoot where the waves were crashing against the shore. Given the conditions, I am rather happy with the results. The lighting was interesting, and the results are quite a bit different than the typical underwater session. Images shot with the Nikon 10-24mm lens and Magic red filter, all in a Nauticam housing with Athena 170mm dome.
